Pros and Cons of Wireless Earphones

The vast majority of people that buy an mp3 player, be it an iPod or not, will typically not even think about replacing the earphones that come as standard equipment with their purchase. Still, they will likely need to buy new earbuds at some point as the standard come-in-the-package earphones will eventually be lost, break or wear out. One can chose from an endless variety of replacement options: another cheap replacement set, expensive earphones that sound great, noise canceling earbuds or even wireless earphones. The point of this article will be to discuss the latter, wire free earbuds.

Wireless earbuds offer advantages and, potentially, some disadvantages. The best advantage is shedding the tethering that attaches to your music source. Even so there may be some wires or a U shaped headset like device that is a part of the wireless setup. This is necessary because of the need for a receiver. One way to solve the receiver problem is to have a single central receiver that is held in place at the back of the head.

This can either hang there via a wire that leads to each earbud or can be part of a more solid headphone like plastic piece that has earbuds at two terminal ends. There are also earphones that have a receiver in each earpiece. These tend to be a bit large, as far as earbuds go, as there needs to be room for the receiver parts in each earpiece.

One real concern with the lack of wires is losing the earphones. The extreme is to of course leave your earphones somewhere that you are visiting. If it is a place you are not going back to, that may mean it is time for you to have to buy a new pair of earbuds. Perhaps not as troublesome but still annoying, is to misplace them. It is not difficult to leave your earbuds in one place in your home and your mp3 player somewhere else. If you tend to misplace your keys a lot, buying wireless earbuds may lead to lots of wasted time looking for where you put them last.

These are just a few of the pros and cons you may need to think about in regards to selecting a pair of wireless earphones. If you do choose some you should choose carefully. Some other considerations, besides what is mentioned here, include choosing Bluetooth or Kleer transmission protocol devices, how much you want to spend and of course the quality of the sound reproduction that you need to enjoy whatever it is that you listen to.
